From our shop on Amsterdam Way in northern Wilmington, it is a straightforward run up I-40 West to US-117 North — usually under 35 minutes. The town carries a mix of older homes clustered around the courthouse square and newer subdivisions that have been filling in along the US-421 corridor as buyers price out of New Hanover County. Pender County has been one of the faster-growing counties in eastern North Carolina over the last decade, and that growth shows up in Burgaw as real renovation demand: older homes getting updated kitchens and baths, newer builds needing finish work the production builders skipped.
